Most mobile phones have animated screen savers that on one hand don't do much to attract and wow users but consume a lot of battery life on the other. You can save your battery life by turning down these applications, or choosing screen savers with lesser animation. To prolong your battery life even further, simply switch off your animations or screen savers. You may also switch off the vibrating mode if you don't need it. Most phones also have backlights, so turning them off or reducing their level can also help save battery life.

Some mobile phones use active applications especially with games, internet, and other handy programs. Some of these applications keep running in the background if you don't exit them properly. So, if you receive a call when in the middle of such applications, exit them properly before you take the call. Many phones use Bluetooth for communication, so if you don't require Bluetooth, it's a good idea to shut it down. Follow other simple tips like avoiding conversations that are too long, for which you can always use your land line if you are in proximity of one. In this way, you will be able to save on battery life, which can become a crucial issue in case of emergencies.

If you really value your expensive mobile, forget duplicate batteries. They are really dangerous to use and can even explode while recharging. Remember the incidents in the newspapers and on TV? Go in for the originals, which can be simply recognized with the hologram identification on them. Use good charging practices like not waiting till the battery discharges completely, and charging the battery completely when you put your phone for recharge.
